USTM & NLUJAA Jointly Organized Workshop on IPR
9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, October 13, 2023: A workshop titled “Create, Innovate, Secure: The IPR Experience” was held yesterday at the NKC auditorium of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM). The workshop was jointly organized by the Department of Physics and the Department of Computer Science, USTM in collaboration with the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA).
The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Pankaj Kumar, DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor, NLUJAA. The workshop successfully achieved its goals, providing valuable insights and knowledge to the participants related to intellectual property rights. It was attended by the UG and PG students from both the departments as well as research scholars, along with the faculties.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Bhairab Sarma, HOD, Department of Computer Science. He gave a brief introduction to intellectual property rights. Dr. Pankaj Kumar explained the IPR, trademark, creative design, copyright, etc. The event was moderated by Mrs. Daisy Sharmah, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Sudin Ganguly, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics.
The workshop provided ample opportunities for participants to network, share experiences, and establish valuable connections with fellow professionals and enthusiasts. Participants learned practical strategies for the effective protection and management of IPR, including compliance and risk mitigation. The workshop underscored the critical role of IPR in fostering innovation and protecting the rights of creators and innovators in our knowledge-driven economy.
